POP-UP PUB EVENT
About our event
Norfolk Saffron's HQ was the village's (Burnham Norton's) one-room traditional pub up until 1956, and my grandmother was its last landlady. Our pop-up event will re-open the old Prince of Wales for the first time in over sixty years, for one day only. This is to raise funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance Charity.
Opening time
Usually this is on the Saturday August Bank holiday weekend, 12 noon till 11pm, but the event is cancelled for 2021.
Getting here
We're at Prince of Wales House, 21 Norton Street, Burnham Norton, PE31 8DR.
By car: we have no on-site parking, but there is a free carpark at the bottom (northern end) of Norton Street. No drink driving!
By bus: the Coastliner 36 service's nearest stop is at Burnham Market, approximately 1.5 miles walk from us.
On foot: we are a short walk from the Norfolk Coast Path. If you're coming from Burnham Deepdale, it's an approximately 1 mile detour to us, if from Burnham Overy it's about half a mile.
By boat: It's about a mile walk across the marshes.
Entry
Entry is free. Our sales of food and drink will be supporting the East Anglian Air Ambulance charity, and you are welcome to make a personal donation towards this very important cause too!
On offer
This is a pop-up event, so we're keeping things simple. Food: home-made cheese & pickle sandwiches, sausage rolls, crisps. To drink: Norfolk Brewhouse (Hindringham) beer, Whin Hill Cider (Wells) and apple juice, our own award-winning home-made 'King Harry' orange & saffron liqueur, and local soft drinks. Traditional pub games: dominoes, cards, pitch-penny.
Payments
All payments by cash only please.
House rules
Dogs. We welcome well-behaved dogs in the garden but sorry, not indoors. It's the owner's responsibility to clear up after them.
Smoking. Our premises and garden is a no-smoking area.
Footwear. This is an odd request, but no stilettos to be worn in the kitchen please - the wooden floor is very old and we don't want holes in it.
Neighbours. Please be considerate to our neighbours e.g. when parking and when leaving our event in the evening.
